26 years blessed

26 years blessed

My birthday was a week ago, and I still cannot believe I am 26!

It was my second ‘lockdown’ birthday, and even with plans in mind, it changed quickly and was cancelled.

I was forced to have a small intimate celebration at home (which was lovely!!) and we were able to go away for the weekend.

For the intimate celebration lovely snacks were enjoyed from our local delis and shops. My favorite flower posies from Joostenberg Deli (for those in the Cape Town surrounds) brightened up the table and created a festive atmosphere. – flowers are always my go-to for a ‘pick-me-up’ just FYI !!

There is something special about a ‘lockdown’ birthday though… it makes one really appreciate the people in your life and to appreciate the little things. Especially with myself having a super tough 2020, the people working in tourism will understand ; ). We were all effected in some way, and I see you.

For my birthday weekend, myself and my fiancé wanted to go somewhere magical, about 2 hours from Paarl area. We were googling probably for a month on where to go!! (ha-ha!). We have been to really amazing hotels and lodges close to Cape Town, and I didn’t want to go somewhere I have already been and self-catering was not an option, I want all the spoils ; ). And of course, most importantly we really wanted to support the hospitality industry who is suffering immensely due to limited number of tourists visiting South Africa.

We decided on somewhere seaside and Kommetjie was the answer!! My fiancé spoiled me to a weekend and The Last Word Long Beach and oh boy was it great!! We had our meals in-room due to the lockdown restrictions, but it just added to the experience to be honest, and I would not want it any other way next time.

Not only was the food incredible, but the views matched it perfectly.

Breakfast (my favorite meal of the day) was beautifully displayed every morning and so delicious and really set the tone for the day ahead.

My birthday may have been in lockdown, but it was perfect in every way.

If I can give you one tip, it would be to still celebrate life and all its beauty. Cheers to 26!

Until next time,

xx
